The costume is in the limelight here, and we display a selection from the Charlotte Weibull Foundation’s collection of costumes. The museum houses what we call "Weibulliana" which gives us the story of Charlotte Weibull and her dedication and her work in the preservation and use of folk dress.
The Weibull Room
The Weibull Room displays treasures from the ancient collections of costumes, costume silver and tapestries in its various exhibitions. One can also see parts of the "Guinness World Record" comprising some 2,000 doll models, kept from 60 years of doll making. Our Scanian bridal couple is also on display, dating from Österlen in the 1860s. As usual, the bridal couple is shown in full attire. Many of the dolls are dressed in the ‘common’ folk costumes of the different parishes and jurisdictional districts in Sweden. The collections also house fairytale characters such as Pippi Longstocking and Nils Holgersson. Many of the doll groups illustrate the traditions and customs of old - various types of craftsmanship for instance, or major celebrations in life such as weddings, as well as annual festive traditions like Christmas, Easter and Midsummer.
