Charlotte Weibull, famous Swedish folklore artist and doll maker, was born on 10 August 1917 in Borrby, Scania. At the age of twenty five she took over the National Costume Shop in Malmö after one of her relatives. While business at the store took off Charlotte Weibull worked to document and preserve the ancient craftsmanship that was quickly disappearing. The costume shop later became the Folklore Centre, which today is housed at Möllegården kultur in Åkarp. Charlotte designed and manufactured more than 2,000 different doll models, with costumes from every single jurisdictional district in Sweden. H.M. the King’s MedalIn 1987 she was appointed a folklore artist and received H.M. the King's Medal by His Majesty the King Carl XVI Gustaf. Scanian of the YearCharlotte was also named Scanian of the Year in 1996.. Ceremonial Handover of the CollectionOn 20 December 2010, Charlotte Weibull's collection was ceremoniously handed over to Burlöv Municipality. |
